Position Description

Position: Event Registration Intern  
Department: Education 
Reporting to: Head of Education 

The Event Registration position supports event’s across Earthwatch Australia’s Education programs -Swarovski Waterschool Australia, Distinctive Areas and Landscapes and Bush Blitz Kids Teaching Kids.  

Earthwatch education events comprise of 100 – 200 delegates per event across Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales. Our events are predominantly made up of students and teachers and exist to promote environmental literacy, positive wellbeing and climate resilience in young people. Our events raise awareness and drive action on local and global environmental issues by bringing school communities together to solve common challenges and help the next generation of leaders take collective responsibility for their future.  

Event objectives:

  • Increase environmental literacy & connection to the environment through experiential learning 
  • Create connections within communities 

  • Drive on-ground environmental projects through peer-teaching 

  • Promote engagement in STEM pathways

Responsibilities:

  • Making enquiries and creating bookings for event contractors and equipment – this position is the main contractor liaison

  • Registration form communications and collation (media release forms & delegate information for students and teachers) 

  • Run-sheet creation for event proceedings, guest speakers, presenting schools, location maps

  • Volunteer supporting document eg: volunteer briefings, volunteer Working with Children Check support and filing (VIC and NSW)

  • Schools group assignments, registration desk spreadsheets, delegate name tags & guest lists

  • Teacher/student surveys - communications and collation

  • Attending 1x event day in Hawthorn, Victoria (optional) 

  • Attending 1x event day in Macedon Ranges (optional) 

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, strong in Microsoft Excel 

  • Strong understanding of CRM systems and Survey Monkey (or equivalent) 

  • Exceptional customer service skills via online communications and phone 

  • Experience in event coordination and event logistics

  • Experience and passion for working with children 

Required Certificates:

  • Holds a state Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain a Volunteer Working with Children Check before onboarding with Earthwatch 

  • Holds a current driver’s license
