Teachers

Earthwatch works with teachers to help them inspire the next generation to take action to save the natural world.

Student interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects is declining, but these subjects are critical to equipping our future leaders with the skills necessary to adapt to the increasing environmental challenges facing our planet. We need to empower teachers to connect with students to get involved in these subjects so we can continue developing solutions to the challenges we face now and in the future.

Earthwatch offers hands-on professional development opportunities that help teachers build skills and learn innovative teaching methods for their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) and Geography lessons. We engage teachers in real-world research, to expand their knowledge and confidence in teaching environmental issues, and give them education resources that helps to embed citizen science programs into core learning. By transcending classroom walls and engaging in nature-based programs, teachers will be able to build their students’ capacity to become critical thinkers and inspired leaders for the environment.
